User roles and permissions

Roles decide what each user can see and do in your account. Datamaran has four account roles: Account Owner, Admin, Editor, and Contributor.

You assign a role when you add a user, and you can change it later when you edit a user.

Why this matters

  • Give each person the right level of access for their work
  • Keep user management with a small number of trusted people
  • Control which areas and products each user can reach
  • Use Contributor access for people who only need specific areas, without using a paid seat

The four roles

  • Account Owner has full access to the platform and full user management. There is one Account Owner per account, and the Account Owner cannot delete themselves.
  • Admin has access to all modules, plus Settings and user management. An Admin can also hold a Contributor role at the same time.
  • Editor has access to all assigned areas and products. In Settings, an Editor sees only My Profile.
  • Contributor has access only to specific assigned areas. A Contributor does not use a seat.
Note: Contributor access is available on accounts with access to Double Materiality.
Who can manage whom
  • Account Owner manages Admins, Editors, and Contributors.
  • Admin manages Editors and Contributors.
  • Editor and Contributor do not manage other users.
