Generate IROs lets Datamaran's AI suggest impacts, risks, and opportunities (IROs) for a topic in the IRO Hub, based on companies' public corporate disclosures. You can then edit, assess, map, or delete the suggestions.
Before you generate IROs here, start with Proposed IROs in the IRO Industry Landscape. Use Generate IROs for the topics that Proposed IROs don't cover.
Why this matters
- Proposed IROs are compared against your IRO long list, so they point to real gaps instead of repeating IROs you already have
- Proposed IROs are tailored to your selected industries, value stream, and ESRS topic
- Generate IROs gives you a starting point for topics where the industry view has no suggestions
Recommended order
- In your Double Materiality analysis, click See IRO Industry Landscape and add IROs from Proposed IROs. Full steps are covered in Closing IRO gaps with industry summaries & Proposed IROs in IRO Industry Landscape.
- Review your IRO long list by topic to find topics that still have few or no IROs.
- For those topics only, use Generate IROs in the IRO Hub (see below).
Tip: Generated IROs aren't checked against your existing IRO long list, so review them for overlaps with IROs you've already added.
Generating IROs
- Go to the IRO Hub tab to view the list of topics. Topics are sorted by:
- availability of data evidence
- inclusion from the topic screening
- Select a topic and click Generate IROs to let Datamaran's AI suggest IROs for it.
- Click the topic to open its list of suggested IROs. Each IRO is derived from public disclosures of analyzed companies.
- Use the table filters to refine your view. IROs are sorted by creation timestamp.
Editing and managing IROs
You can tailor generated IROs to fit your organisation's context.
- Edit IROs: click an IRO's text to modify its description, add value streams, or adjust the automatic ESRS mapping.
- Assess criteria: select an IRO to open its details and review or score its criteria.
- Automatic updates: the total count of IROs in the IRO Hub updates automatically when you edit, delete, or add IROs.
Click the Save icon to apply your changes.
Deleting IROs
- Use the checkboxes to select the IRO(s) you want to delete.
- A banner appears at the bottom of the screen. Click Delete IROs.
- Confirm the deletion in the prompt.
Note: Deleting IROs can't be undone.
ESRS mapping
Datamaran automatically maps suggested IROs to European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) sustainability matters.
- You can adjust mappings in the side panel, at topic and sub-topic level, by changing or deleting the suggested selection.
- Automatic mappings are recommendations, so review them against your reporting requirements.
- If an IRO cannot be mapped, it appears as an Entity-Specific IRO.
Next steps
Once your IROs are reviewed and refined, you can:
- assess their criteria, or
- assign them to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the assessment.
