Understanding the Analysis’ Breakdown Tab

[Analysis module]

The Breakdown tab, located within the Analysis module, is designed to take the issues identified in your analysis matrix and deconstruct them into their foundational elements. It provides a detailed, structured view of the data that underpins your matrix results.

 Why this tab matters

The Breakdown tab transforms complex insights into actionable intelligence by offering:

  • Granular Detail: Get past the summary view and see the specific Topics and Factors that contribute to your company’s exposure for any given broader theme.

  • Actionable Strategy: The clear definition of Topics and Factors helps you translate an identified Issue (the broader theme) into concrete action areas that can be integrated into your strategy setting, risk management, and reporting practices.

  • Comprehensive Overview: It offers an easily understandable table overview of your company's most relevant issues, topics, and their underlying factors.

Structure of the Breakdown Tab

The Breakdown tab presents your analysis data in a detailed table format, organized around three key concepts: the broader theme, Topics, and Factors.

1. Issue

The tab initially focuses on the issue you currently have selected in your Analysis Matrix. This is the overarching broader theme (e.g., Human Rights) that Datamaran has analysed for your company.

2. Topics

For your selected issue, the tab displays a list of underlying Topics.

  • Topics are the specific, distinct thematic areas that fall under the broader issue. For example, if the broader theme is Human Rights, Topics might include Children's Rights and Human Rights.

3. Factors

Beneath each Topic, you will find the relevant Factors, along with a clear Description for each.

Defining Factors: Factors are broadly understood as the action areas that should be considered and integrated into your company's strategy setting, risk management, and reporting practices. They represent the specific mechanisms or influences that contribute to the overall exposure of the Topic.

Navigating the Breakdown Tab

To view and navigate the data efficiently, follow these steps:

  1. Change the Issue: To view the Topics and Factors related to a different issue, use the alphabetized "Issue" drop-down list located at the top of the tab. Select a new Issue from your matrix.

  2. Return to the Matrix View: To navigate back to your Analysis Matrix, click the “Matrix View” button located at the top of the screen.
