Defining Custom Criteria Scales for the IRO Assessment

[Double Materiality module]

Datamaran’s IRO Hub supports Custom Criteria Scales, giving organizations more flexibility and alignment with internal frameworks. This feature is designed for teams that use their own scoring models, ensuring greater consistency and reducing the effort needed to manually align results.

With custom criteria scales, the analysis owner can define a numerical range for each scoring criterion—Scale, Scope, Magnitude, Likelihood, and Irremediability. Many organizations use systems that differ from Datamaran’s default 1–5 scale. By applying your in-house methodology directly, you can enhance comparability and streamline double materiality assessments.

How to set up a custom criteria scale

1. Access the IRO Hub

When opening the IRO Hub for the first time in a new analysis, the analysis owner will be prompted to define the scoring scale.

2. Choose your scales

Select a numerical scales for each criteria individually.

Constraints:

  • Positive numbers only

  • Up to 10 options per scale

  • Decimals are allowed

3. Save and apply

Once saved, the scales are applied to:

  • The current analysis

  • All included IROs

  • Any future versions derived from the analysis

How it works

  • The selected scale is set at analysis-level, meaning all collaborators (owners, contributors, reviewers) will use the same scoring system.
  • This setting cannot be changed once the analysis is created. To apply different scales, you must create a new analysis.
  • Scores will persist consistently across all future versions of the analysis.
  • This feature is only available when starting a new analysis.
